Set Up Main Conversion In Google Ads

Modified on Mon, 31 Jul 2023 at 10:04 AM

1 - Click on ‘Tools and Settings’ in the top toolbar and then click on ‘Conversions’ under the ‘Measurement' column

2 - If you haven’t set up conversions before, click on ‘New Conversion Action’

3 - Click on the ‘Website - Track Actions On Your Website’ tab

4 - Enter your website domain and hit ‘Scan’. Click on ‘+ Add a conversion action manually’ when the new tab shows up.

5 - Select ‘Purchase’ from the drop down menu for ‘Goal and action optimization’. If you are an ecommerce store, purchase will be your main conversion goal, however if your business is leads based, you can select ‘Submit Lead Form’ or ‘Sign-up’ as your goal.  Give your conversion an appropriate name like ‘Purchases’ or ‘Leads’

6 - If your main goal is purchases, select ‘Use different values for each conversion’ (as each conversion will have a different value), and if your main goal is leads select ‘Use same value for each conversion’.

Note: You will be prompted to enter a default value. Add the price of your main product/service in this box.

Select the count as ‘Every’ for purchases and ‘One’ for leads and leave everything else the same.

7 - Click the ‘Done’ button and then ‘Save and Continue’

8 - Click on the ‘Use Google Tag Manager’ tab and move on to the next checkpoint.
